Directors

Faculty Adviser – Ron Blatz

Ron Blatz joined Valparaiso University in the fall of 2014 as the Temporary VUTV Advisor and Studio Manager. Ron became the Permanent Faculty Advisor for VUTV and Studio Manager in 2015 on a part time basis. In October 2016, Ron was promoted to Faculty Advisor for VUTV, Studio Manager and HLN/ESPN Broadcast Coordinator. In September 2017 Ron accepted a promotion to full time with Valparaiso University with the title of Faculty Advisor for VUTV, Studio Manager and Broadcast & Streaming Manager.
In Ron’s broadcasting career he has worked for a number of TV stations throughout the Midwest including, WEHT, WNDU and WYIN, just to name a few. Ron has worked as a director/producer, master control operator and supervisor, floor director, camera operator and all production positions in-between.
Ron resides in Valparaiso with his wife, of over 15 years, Tami and their fur baby Bella. In his off time Ron likes fishing, attending NASCAR races and spending time with his family and friends. Ron and Tami also own their own DJ Service, Music-N-Motion Mobile DJ Service.

Executive Director – Katie Nickolaou

Katie Nickolaou is from Battle Creek, Michigan. She is a junior Meteorology major with a double minor in digital media and mathematics. Broadcast Meteorology is her vocation. She has wanted to be a broadcast meteorologist since she was 3 years old. She loves all types of weather, but she especially likes tornadoes and snow. She joined VUTV the first day of my freshman year and has loved it ever since. She spends a lot of time in the studio, and enjoys visitors

News Director – Jessica Burns

Weather Director – Sabrina Bates

Sabrina Bates is senior meteorology major with minors in digital media and mathematics, with her hometown in Lombard, Illinois. Her passion is the weather and warning others about its risks. This led her to broadcast meteorology. Teaching the weather and building relationships with the community is what she is excited to do every day. She says VUTV has helped her reach where she is today and she is always grateful for the multitudes of learning experience it gave her the past 3 years.

Productions Director – Marguerite Incardone

Marguerite Incardone is a junior meteorology major with a major in digital media. Last year, she was a transfer student. She found her home away from home at VUTV,  and ever since, has become a very involved member. In the future, she hopes to use all of the knowledge that she has learned both in the classroom and at VUTV to get a career as an on air meteorologist.

Program Director – Brandi Casada

Brandi Casada grew up in Frankfort, Indiana. She is a senior Digital Media major. Her primary focus is TV and film production. Film is something that has always fascinated her. She transferred to Valparaiso her junior year and VUTV was one of the many reasons why she decided to call Valpo her home. She can often be found in the control room, and she enjoys movies, shows, and comics.  

Video Editing Director – Alexander Bartelt

Alex Bartelt is a senior Digital Media major from Naperville, Illinois. Ever since he was little, he has enjoyed watching movies and playing video games. He has always enjoyed the stories and characters that were developed, which is why he creates music tributes to those video games in his free time. He hopes to get involved in a job in filmmaking or TV production. He knows he will be happy either way. He has been working at VUTV since his sophomore year and is looking forward to teaching anyone interested in working with VUTV.

Advertising Director – Nicholas Knox

Digital Content Director – Katlyn Williams

Katlyn Williams is a junior Sociology and Economics double major from Harvard, Illinois. She joined VUTV her freshman year, and even though she doesn’t plan on making a career of television, she still finds herself spending a lot of time in Schnabel hall between the radio station and VUTV. She hopes to go to graduate school to get her PHD in Sociology, and become a professor of Sociology.
